Some cool Chick images:

Deathly Tug of war for these 6 week old chicks.

Chick

A pair of Western Gull chicks both pull at a piece of regurgitated food that their parent has brought them. As the strip of food tears apart the chick on the right falls backwards, loses it's footing and falls off the cliff. This image was taken as the chick (on the right) falls backwards off the cliff at the instant that the food tears apart. The chick bounced off the rocks in to the gentle surf below. It did manage to get ashore after much struggling and it found a precarious perch on a rock at the bottom of the cliff. It could not however get up the sheer cliff face to a point above the high tide mark. The next morning it was gone.
Initially the gull parents had three eggs in their nest but only two hatched. Now there is only one chick left.
