Question by Justin R: What can cause water to suddenly stop coming from a shower faucet, then after a pause, come through normally?

Over the past year, water will just stop coming out mid-shower. It is picking up frequency, occassionally stopping twice during a shower. Infrequently, the same problem can be said for kitchen and bathroom sink faucets, but rarely. The water pressure is fine prior to, and following these occurrences. Thank you for any suggestions.

Two things come to mind.
1) are you on a well or city water? If on a well you could have a defective bladder in your pressure tank. The tank/bladder evens out the pressure when the well pump cycles on and off.

2) I have seen this happen when you have a bad washer in a valve. If this happens in different fixtures in the house this is not likely your problem.
