What is the big deal with classic novels/classics?

Question by MegaMe: What is the big deal with classic novels/classics?

I just don't understand why they are so great, all the classics I have read (which surprisingly is quite a few) are dull and downright awful. Thanks so much in advance.

They have an actual purpose and you can learn things from them and I enjoy them very much. Maybe they just aren't your taste, but I like them.
